Former colleagues and friends Joanne Watkinson and Rachel Evans dreamt up the idea for a slow-fashion brand filled with cool wardrobe essentials they could wear on repeat, and in November 2020 By Elleven was born.
What Trends are big for Summer?
Rachel: Y2K continues, a lot of bloggers and influencers sported All Saints esq cargo pants for fashion week, so I think they’ll make a return over the next couple of seasons. Bold brights, saturated citrus yellow and orange, and “Bottega” Kelly green isn’t going anywhere. BIG bags.
You are advocates for Slow Fashion, What is on trend that we're likely to have in our wardrobe already?
Joanne : We are all about Circular Fashion, the days of things dropping in and out of fashion are gone, there is only new and old, so you will 100% have lots of things in your wardrobe that you can style up for Spring, block colour, platforms, mens style tailoring, dig it out!
Rachel: Bring out your blazers and crisp cotton shirts for that “uniform” look as seen at Miu Miu.
Jo: Track-pants, t-shirt and a blazer,sweatshirt tied over shoulders, cap on, cross body, socks pulled up, the devil is in the details.
Rachel: Go to casual look - crew neck, tack pants, trench/masculine coat or blazer and trainers.
What’s your favourite high street store and why?
Joanne: I have to tip my hat to Zara, they repeatedly bring out great looking collections and as a business they are committed to becoming a more sustainable fast-fashion retailer.
Where do you get your outfit inspiration from?
Rachel: street style on Instagram, mostly the Scandi's in Copenhagen, Stockholm etc
What's your go-to casual look?
And what's your typical dressed up style?
Jo: Not a million miles away from my casual, i add a smarter blazer, more jewellery and heels to my separates, the biggest difference is my hair will be clean and wavy and i will have make-up on!
Rachel: usually a smart trouser suit, very rarely a dress unless it’s long and patterned in the summer maybe.
What's your favourite season to dress for?
We love summer for the weather and long days but in terms of fashion it has to be autumn and winter, Layers, layers and more layers!
You’re the founders of By Elleven... tell us a bit about the brand?
Rachel: gold chain bracelet, i’d layer it with my watch for day or night. Sparkly socks - I’d style with strappy sandals and casual boyfriend jeans.
By Elleven is a collection of elevated wardrobe essentials, clothing and accessories designed to be worn on repeat. We focus on being as sustainable as possible, the collection is made using Organic Cotton and Recycled fabrics and the majority of our pieces are unisex, we have just finished a collaboration with a female illustrator that we are very excited about.
What are your favourite picks from the Scott-Samuel website and how would you style them?
Jo: The Oversized Square Retro Sunglasses will work with my every day wardrobe and I love head to toe black in the summer, I wear it with chunky gold jewellery like the Gold Coin Earrings
