Festival Inspo

It's that time of year... Festival Season! Now festivals come in all shapes and sizes and there is something for everyone whatever your thang, from food to folk, disco to poetry and everything in between.  Whether you are a camper or not, there are so many daytime festivals or options to spend a day at a festival.

Which festival go-er are you? I like to dip in an out of each style depending on my mood, the weather and what the festival is... for ease I am splitting this into three groups.

Sequins & Sparkle - So under the sparkly header I am loading all things metallic, glittery and sequinned. This is what people definitely expect when you say 'festival'. I recently dressed up to see Harry Styles in what I would call festival wear. A black and gold 'Disco' vest from Disko Kids, Bronze wide leg trousers from Saint + Sofia, a vintage Levi's denim gilet with the sequinned cape over the top and a gold belt and gold bumbag. Perfect! Added a khaki jacket under the denim gilet for warmth in the evening.

So with a sparkly festival outfit you can go all out or add one statement piece. Your Christmas sequin party piece also works so well for this look. I saw someone comment on Instagram that they scour charity shops for preloved sequins and I think this is a great idea. Sequins aren't great for the environment anyway so this is a fab way to buy. It also means you won't be precious about them getting damaged which they may well at a festival. I got a pair of silver sequin flares from ebay a couple of years ago for a fiver! Perfect.

Metallic bumbags complete the look and a bumbag is a festival essential anyway, as you need to be hands free. If you aren't comfortable going all out sequins, adding one piece is ideal. Or adding a denim jacket or gilet over/ under a metallic or sequinned number dresses it down a little for the perfect festival look. Another easy way to add sparkle is on your face with make up/ glitter!

Casual / Practical Cool - This is a look that is perfect festival, is casual and comfortable but also ticks the cool box. I am putting Kate Moss, the queen of festival chic, who has been nailing this look for years in this box. Khaki and denim are a must for this one. Whether it's cut off shorts or jeans and a khaki jacket or the other way round, khaki cargos and a denim jacket or gilet with a t shirt or vest underneath. The art of layering is the winner here and you will be grateful for it when the temperature drops. Weather and style dependent you can opt for sandals/ flip flops, trainers or wellies with this. Accessorise this look with fab sunglasses (I like black tortoise wayfarers), a leather bumbag (plain or metallic) or cross body bag and your favourite layered jewellery.  If it is sunny, a hat is also a good idea. A bucket hat or panama hat work well with this. A light scarf for when the temperature drops. I am also going to put double denim in here... denim shorts/jeans/skirt and a shirt or denim jacket with a vest or music T underneath. This embelished cross body bag is a great festival bag and will work with a boho outfit as well as a simple khaki and denim outfit.

Boho - I love a bit of boho. There are loads of ways to go festival boho but my fave is with a Kimono. Wear this over a silk camisole or vest and denim shorts, a denim skirt or jeans. I love a kimono and I think it is the perfect festival look.  The vintage style lace kimono, kimono jackets and the embroidered kimono all look fab styled with denim. The new black fringed Kimono is perfect! . Oversized sunglasses a must, gold hoops and layered necklaces and bracelets. Another boho alternative is a floaty dress with a denim gilet or jacket or a khaki jacket. A bumbag or fringed bag completes this look. Sandals, trainers or cowboy boots. Crochet and fringing is also a great festival look and there is so much of this around right now. Easy ways to make an outfit more boho.... add a paisley scarf to your hair/head/bag. Add a fringed suede bag. Add some oversized sunglasses.

Enjoy!!! xx
