Holiday accessorizing

Holiday accessorizing

If you're heading off somewhere hot and lovely these ideas for accessorizing your summer holiday outfits might come in handy. I LOVE an accessory on holiday! I find it makes all the difference. Day or night. Even if I am a hot sweaty mess with crazy hair, wafting around in a fabulous kimono with some big sunglasses, a great hat and a gorgeous woven basket make me feel good. I also like jewellery that I don't have to think about removing and our gold plated waterproof jewellery is ideal for this. A little accessorising goes a long way. Especially in the daytime!

Kimono - no surprise here that I love a kimono. Super easy to throw on over your swimwear with some denim shorts or on their own and can easily take you from beach to bar. Also great if you are packing light as you really can wear them night and day. I love my vintage style kimono jacket for the evening on holiday. It looks great over a crochet vest or a simple dress. The vintage style lace kimono's are great for dressing up or down too. The thing about a kimono in the day is it looks like you made an effort. It's an easy way to look good in the sun. I tend to go with plain swimwear with my kimono's but that is just personal preference. The black lace works really well with a plain black bikini or swimsuit underneath. Kimono's also give you a bit of coverage if you aren't comfortable walking around the pool / beach in your swimwear. Check out all of the kimonos as there is everything from boho to metallics, minimal to maximal!

Hats / headscarfs - I have always loved a sunhat. Partly due to a burnt scalp when I was a teen I have covered my head in the sun ever since. I used to wear a headscarf when I had cropped hair. In fact I did this again on my last holiday and I have some great cotton scarves that look good as headscarves. You don't need me to tell you the benefits of wearing a hat in the sun, I now wear one all the time really in the sun at home and away but the added bonus of a hat is that it can really pull your outfit together and of course it hides any holiday hair. I always take  few different hats on holiday with me. I love the fact that packable sunhats are thing! No more having to wear your hat on the plane (although I do this as well, lol!) So hat wise I have a few options for you. The woven raffia bucket hats are really cool. I love them. The wide brimmed reversible hats are also fab for your hols (in beige, black, pink or yellow with a large check on the reverse) these pack away flat and are rude enough to shield your whole face as well as looking super chic. You’re welcome!!

Bags If I was only taking one bag on holiday it would be the multi tasking regular leather bumbag. A dream at the airport ( i fit 5 passports in there plus my usual bits ) and easily dressed up or down. If you want something that works with everything go for metallic or a neutral bit I’m here to tell you that the orange and khaki are also great holiday choices and go with lots! Large bags… on my last holiday I used the XL leather basket (open weave) and there’s also this other style of XL Woven Leather Basket. I used it as hand luggage bags then as my beach bag and it was perfect. Other large bags that are great and pack flat if you’re not using it as your hand luggage are the bamboo handled shopper (pictured below). I actually take this away with me anyway as an extra because a I like bags and b it’s useful for shopping trips etc. other bags useful like this are the knitted shopper. The large Straw and Leather basket is also a good choice if you want a big bag that you can use as hand luggage. Now if you want a bag for the evening that isn’t a bumbag… the raffia clutch (pictured below) is a great one and is almost flat as a pancake so takes up very little space. The small geo bags (hello white, lemon and lilac) make lovely little holiday bags, or what about a woven crossbody in black or tan. If you like to match your bag to your sandals and are a tan leather fan there’s the studded clutch or the studded camera bag (also in black) in fact they’d make great options if you are only taking one bag away.

Sunglasses obviously you’re gonna need sunglasses and they don’t take up much space do I always take several pairs (ok I lied maybe 4 or 5 options!) An oversized round in tortoiseshell, gold framed 70’s, a cat eye and a wayfarer. I might need some aviators too…

Jewellery
I need to quickly mention jewellery as I think it really adds something on holiday. I love a layered necklace look and I particularly love one that can be worn all the time. Gold plated waterproof tarnish free jewellery is perfect for your holiday, plus just think it looks fab against tanned skin with your holiday wardrobe. I love a large hoop earring on holiday too. I love two necklaces layered (see pics below)…  Also this multi coloured beaded necklace can be added to other gold jewellery for a summery look.

Happy holiday accessorizing!!
