Today we hear from the lovely Katie. You can find her @ksammonsstyle on Insta.
How would you describe your style?
I have always been drawn towards the classics, I love beautiful well made pieces but going into my 40’s, I have added a little bit of an edge to my styling, almost going back to my 20’s and trying to be that little bit more adventurous & have fun getting dressed, adding in pops of colour throughout the seasons.
How long have you been on Instagram? Tell us a bit about your journey on there and what you share?
I started my account in lockdown 2022. I had my 2nd bowel resection (I have suffered with Crohn’s Disease since I was 18) and wanted to find my confidence again. I just love how much inspiration this platform has given me & continues to do so. It has pushed me way out of my comfort zone & given me lots of opportunities. There is such a beautiful community of like minded women on here and I’m loving getting to know you all! I like to share a little bit of everything in my life and how I style my outfits.
What is your favourite independent brand and why?
There are lots of independents I still don’t know enough about or in fact heard of but that is starting to change which is brilliant and makes me very happy to support through my page. For the past 2.5 years I have been supporting & using on repeat daily @balancemeskincare, their range of natural skincare is incredible & has made a huge difference to my skin. More recently I have had the pleasure of using the most incredible oils & serums from @desavery skincare. I highly recommend checking out both these brands ladies. Since the beginning of last year, I have also become a little obsessed with @moishoeslondon , you will see me wearing their leopard print Mary Janes, on repeat this year.
What is your favourite season to dress for?
My favourite season has to be Autumn, it always has been. I love the tones & textures. It just makes me happy. Loved being able to throw on a chunky knit.
Favourite High Street shop and why?
Right now it has to be Cos for their amazing quality minimal pieces, they are so good. Their trousers are the best. Really great wardrobe staples that last and help to elevate your daily style.
What is your go-to look for dressing up?
This is where I actually struggle at times, as I tend to dress items down! I think a jumpsuit is one piece that a lot of ladies overlook. If you choose the right one, they can make a really great outfit, just by adding in a few well chosen accessories. Of course the perfect pair of denim, that make your bum look peachy can make you feel amazing, paired with a simple tee, kitten heel, a leather biker or slightly oversized blazer, will never fail. One thing I have added into my wardrobe for this season is a silver mini skirt, I recently wore this on holiday in the evening & absolutely loved it!
And your signature style for casual dressing?
It has to be a wide leg trouser, a really great pair of trainers and a navy knit right now. Casual chic is what I ultimately aim for.
What is your favourite accessory? Favourite piece from Scott-Samuel?
For this season I’m loving a chunky necklace in my favourite colour green and it has to be your fab knitted shoppers. They will add a little pop of colour to your everyday style, perfect
👌
Are you a hoarder or a declutterer?
Definitely love a de-clutter. Every few months I have a good clear out, it’s so therapeutic! I’m loving selling on Vinted at the moment , it gives me a buzz and makes me happy knowing someone else will bring those unwanted pieces to life again.
Best style advice/tip?
Buy the best pieces your budget will allow but buy less, you really don’t need that many items in your wardrobe! Invest in a few good bras, I highly recommend @fantasielingerie for their smooth lines under your clothing. Whatever you wear, wear it well and with confidence, it can make a huge difference to your overall look & feel. Don’t be afraid to experiment either.
Dream collab?
Hard question as there are so many but I would love to work to create my own skincare set and maybe in the future, write a column or produce an edit for a magazine! Something I have been thinking about for quite a while. These would definitely push me way out of my comfort zone but how amazing it would be!
Thanks Katie! xx
