Styling Autumn Colours by Stylist Laura Fawcett

As the weather gets cooler Autumn provides the opportunity to experiment and step our looks up a gear or two by adding more layers, textures and playing around with colours. As a Personal Stylist layering can be one of the most common struggles that my clients face. I always advise that a useful starting point to adding more dimension to an outfit is by accessorising and combining 'colour with colour' for a more interesting look.

Colour Analysis plays a huge part when embarking on a journey in discovering your personal style and is often the starting point when working with new clients. Once you have discovered your seasonal palette and understand how to make it work for you and your wardrobe, a whole range of colour options are unleashed. Having the knowledge of your best colours, neutrals and metallics is like a super power that I believe everyone should have. This knowledge enables you to create a more interchangeable wardrobe that effortlessly works together and includes accessories in the right tones to help complete every look.
Whether you are looking to add a subtle or statement accessory to finish your outfit, Scott Samuel have you covered from gorgeous leather handbags, to the finishing touches such as jewellery, scarves, hats and socks.
I have created four looks inspired by Scott-Samuel's bag collection that will hopefully provide inspiration for how to create an Autumnal outfit in colour combinations that suit your colouring.
This is the time of year when the Autumn pallet is in abundance, featuring warm, rich, earthy, vibrant and muted colours with a yellow undertone. Autumns look stunning in brown, camel, mahogany with orange and lime lifting their complexion up, with gold metallics completing the look.
Winters generally look incredible in high contrasting, dramatic, bright and deep colours, all with a cool blue undertone meaning this season’s deep red wine and burgundy shades are an ideal choice. Charcoal and black look striking on Winters high contrasting features with cool silver brightening the palette.
The Spring palette consists of warm, light, bright and bouncy colours often seen in spring flowers such as crocus, daffodils and tulips. Similar to autumns, springs look incredible in camels and chocolate browns and softened with lilac.
Summer’s are not overwhelmed by pastels and soft greys that harmonise with the blue undertone of their complexions. Due to the softness of their features the best way for summers to incorporate black into their look is through accessorising away from their face, while placing pastel and mid toned colours such as sky blue and silver closer to their face.
