It’s trenchcoat season and I do love a trench. Trenches come out every Autumn, every Spring, so I thought I’d take a look at the humble trench and how you can make it a bit, well better or elevated with these easy styling ideas…
Scarves … adding a scarf is nothing new, but it’s how you add the scarf that makes the difference. A silk scarf can be added round the neck, but what about removing your trench belt and tying that scarf at that back?
The same silk scarf (or any scarf) can be worn around your funnel neck and worn like a be neckerchief. Leopard Silk scarf is £30.
Or what about looping it through one of your button holes to add a bit of interest? Bag is Vintage Studded leather bag in dark brown.
Lace scarf - a lace scarf over a trench looks great. I love this in both cream and black, and I love the contrast of the pretty lace against the classic trench. £15 each. Heart pendant and T Bar necklace both Scott-Samuel.
A wool neckerchief looks great over a trench. There are merino neckerchiefs, Cashmere and this frilled one.

This is a tip I learnt from my friend Valerie, stylist @SolihullStyle on our shoot and it is to wear the collar up and tie the trench belt around it, giving a funnel neck effect. I think it looks great!
