UK Holiday Accessories – what I’m taking
So if you are heading away somewhere in the UK this Summer, as you well know it’s a bit of a lottery weather wise. We tend to go away and get a mixed bag of weather, my whole family (20 of us give or take) have been going away for over 20 years and I would say we have maybe had 2 weeks of entirely good weather in that time. So what you’re going to need is a mixture of stuff. Keep checking the weather forecast app and of course if it looks amazing then you may feel brave enough to ditch the waterproof, brolly, layers… but personally I believe it when I see it!!
So first up I take my trusty Leather weekend bag. It’s the perfect weekend bag or makes a great addition to a small case if you need a bit extra… lets face it, packing for multiple weathers takes up space! It’s also a lovely gift idea for a birthday (male or female, this bag does not disappoint).
So bag wise on these kinds of holiday which often involve a bit of walking, a bit of mooching around pretty towns, possibly some National Trust gardens, all the greats. I tend to stick to one handbag which is the Leather Bumbag. It’s easy, it’s practical, it goes with everything. Our holidays in the UK are pretty casual affairs so this bag is perfect but it can be dressed up if it needs to be. It can also easily be popped into a bigger bag if I need more room. This year we are going to the coast so there will be a lot more beach action. This means I will need a beach bag as well and luckily I have the perfect bag. The XL Leather Basket is my beach bag of choice and I will also take the Bamboo Handled shopper as an additional bag. It packs flat, is waterproof on the inside and great for the beach (or shopping!) just great all rounder. Another alternative is the XL Vegan Shopper, this is the Mary Poppins of bags but also folds down quite small.
Sunglasses – maybe wishful thinking but several pairs of sunglasses will def be coming with me, s I wear them all year round anyway. If I am super casual I like to have my sunnies and a few different options is good and makes me feel like me! Shop sunglasses here.
A lightweight scarf – for blustery beach walks is a must. I will take the khaki checked scarf. It goes with my khaki jacket, my denim and my navy waterproof. It has doubled up as a sarong for Daisy when she decided to get soaked and we didn’t have a change of clothes too! I also love little cotton neckerchief on holiday so will be taking a paisley one in blue or brown. I love this on cooler days.
An umbrella – needs no explanation!
A sun hat – I will always take a hat or two. Bonus as these are packable the Wide Brimmed Reversible Hat is ideal for giving your face full shade and I also love the Woven Raffia Bucket hat in black or white. A cap is also fab on this kind of holiday. My dad loves his Leather Peaked Baseball cap and I also have these new mesh back trucker caps if that is your vibe.
Jewellery – My waterproof gold plated jewellery I wear 24/7, I even sleep in the T Bar hoops, they are waterproof so no worries about getting them wet. I will probably add a bright coloured beaded necklace to layer it up because it is Summer after all!
Fab socks – Some fab socks will be required at some point, even if the weather is warm all week. I wear my smiley socks or my three stripe socks to exercise in or if we go walking!
Other stuff – I always take layers. A chunky cardi, a denim shirt, vests, t shirts, shorts and trousers, a linen shirt. As well as some sundresses that can be layered up too. Oh and jeans either wide leg or carrot jeans. Ones that work with trainers and sandals. Swimwear and one kimono if the sun shows it’s face!
Hope you find that helpful! xx
