Double Denim outfit inspo

This is one trend that we’re already seeing everywhere. Why? Because it’s an old classic,  the ‘Canadian Tuxedo’, it's super easy, there are loads of options and everyone already has denim in their wardrobe. I am definitely here for this one!

Not tried double denim before? This is one you can absolutely shop from your wardrobe, mix and match and just give it a go. Jeans whether they are slim, flared, boot cut, cropped, mom, barrel legged, light, dark and everything in between all work with this one. Double up with a denim shirt or jacket and you are good to go. If you are new to this and feeling unsure… try a denim shirt under a cardigan or jumper or even open with a t shirt underneath to dip your toes in the DD pool. Or even adding a trench over your denim shirt and jeans breaks the look up and makes it feel less full on.

However, if you wanna go all out, then let’s do it! Here are some of the looks I am loving via Pinterest. The best thing about this is that I am pretty sure each and everyone of you reading this owns a pair of jeans (at the very least!) and a denim shirt… or if not a denim shirt then a denim jacket. Alternatively if you are not a jeans fan, then what about a denim skirt (also big news this year) and then when it gets warmer… denim shorts.

I love that this ‘trend’ is so versatile it works with trainers, boots, heels, ballet pumps, sandals, sliders. You name it, you can give it a go.  There really are no rules. Although ‘they’ say to avoid being too matchy matchy in your denim washes… which makes it even easier.

Here are a few ideas for some double denim outfits….

Denim Maxi skirt & denim shirt (try the shirt open with a t shirt or vest underneath. Or try a jumper over the denim shirt again this is a bit of a softer option if you are new to DD). Works with trainers, clogs, cowboy boots, ballet pumps, sandals, sliders.

Denim maxi skirt & denim jacket. Again an easier option as you can break up the denim. If it’s cooler you can layer with another jacket on top eg trench or khaki jacket if your denim jacket is a slim fit. As above this lends itself to most shoes  dependent on the skirt you go for and how you accessorize.

Wide leg jeans & denim shirt or blouse. I love this look with a denim  or chambray blouse. I have a high necked embroidered one from Sezane from last year and an old puffed sleeve one that work well with wide legs for a 70’s feel boho feel (with a tan leather knot belt). I love this embroidered one from M&S (pictured) and there are lots of pretty denim blouses around too. Wide legged jeans are absolutely everywhere.

Dungarees with a denim blouse underneath. I like this with a denim blouse for a pretty take on the DD look. I tend to wear my dungarees with trainers but have just bought some velvet mary janes and am going to try them with this too!

Denim shacket with straight leg or mom jeans. There are loads of denim shackets around at the moment. I have one that is a few years old but the high street is full of them. I love this quilted one from M&S (pictured) but there are lots of thinner versions (with and without pockets). If they are a slimmish/ straight cut I like them with a slim leg jean, cropped looks great.

Denim gilet (I have a vintage one) over a long sleeved breton or plain white t shirt and jeans. Depending on the cut and size of your gilet depends on the jeans you go for. I have also seen lots of denim waistcoats around if gilets aren't your style.

Dark denim jeans with a lighter denim shirt. This is an easy peasy one. Try it out with what you have in your wardove and see if it works for you. Can try leaving the shirt open to break up the look. Adding a blazer or cardi, a bright coloured bag. There are lots of ways to make it work and to put your own twist on it and make it more 'you'!

Pictured on the header- I love this pretty embroidered denim blouse from M&S. Wide jeans, Quilted jacket M&S, Straight legged jeans Cos. Clogs are from Penelope Chilvers. Oversize Square sunglasses, Coral rope satin scarf , leather knot belt , striped shopper and saddle bag Scott-Samuel. Denim maxi skirt is H&M

And below more Pinterest inspo because there is so much you can do with DD!!
